Xml Schema-based Triggers
نویسندگان
چکیده
XML (Extensible Markup Language) has recently emerged as a new standard for data representation and exchange on the Internet. It is expected that XML will become a universal format for data exchange on the Web. There is a need for an efficient XML database system that can be used to manipulate and process XML data. Trigger mechanism is a mature technique in Active Database Systems for providing active functions. Hence, incorporating triggers into an XML database can help users to perform many tasks automatically when they manage and exchange XML data. We propose a Schema-Based XML Trigger Definition. A method to analyze Mutual Triggering and Activation among a set of triggers is provided, in order to determine whether a trigger will terminate or not. This approach provides a way to define XML triggers through XML Schema in order to realize various active functions in XML database. The proposal augments XML Schema into a complete database schema language that integrates the descriptions and definitions of XML databases.

Holistic Source-centric Schema Mappings for XML-on-RDBMS
When hosting XML information on relational backends, a mapping has to be established between the schemas of the information source and the target storage repositories. A rich body of recent literature exists for mapping isolated components of the XML Schema to their relational counterparts, especially with regard to table configurations. However, for a viable realworld implementation, a holisti...

متن کاملSchema Extraction from XML Data: A Grammatical Inference Approach
New XML schema languages have been recently proposed to replace Document Type Definitions (DTDs) as schema mechanism for XML data. These languages consistently combine grammar-based constructions with constraintand pattern-based ones and have a better expressive power than DTDs. As schema remain optional for XML data, we address the problem of schema extraction from XML data. We model the XML s...
متن کاملMaking XML Schema Easier to Read and Write
XML Schema is a rather complex schema language, partly because of its inherent complexity, and partly because of its XML syntax. In an effort to reduce the syntactic verboseness and complexity of XML Schema, we designed the XML Schema Compact Syntax (XSCS), a non-XML syntax for XML Schema. XSCS is designed for human users, and transformations from and to XML Schema XML syntax are implemented us...
متن کاملSchema Conversion Methods between XML and Relational Models
In this chapter, three semantics-based schema conversion methods are presented: 1) CPI converts an XML schema to a relational schema while preserving semantic constraints of the original XML schema, 2) NeT derives a nested structured XML schema from a flat relational schema by repeatedly applying the nest operator so that the resulting XML schema becomes hierarchical, and 3) CoT takes a relatio...
